sakiori – rag weaving with natural indigo scraps
AIZOME SAKIORI 1, 2, 3, 4 (2022)
- Sakiori is one way that clothes and fabric was recycled in the days before fast fashion. Fabric was precious, and therefore worn out or unneeded garments were ripped up to form new fabric, it’s a more refined version of a rag-rug. I save all remnants and scraps of indigo dyed fabric to weave into new cloth. In 2022 I made these 4 wall-hangings with shades of indigo blue. They are for sale at the AiAii online shop https://aiaii.blue/pages/onlineshop
